Representations received during the consultation period.

Dunnington PC:

The Parish Council’s current position is that it would support the restriction being amended to a 3-hour maximum stay (instead of 2 hours). This adjustment is considered to better balance the need to manage parking demand while reducing potential impact on nearby businesses.

Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 6:00pm only. 

We would be grateful if this revised position could be taken into consideration as the proposal progresses to the Executive Member for Transport decision session.

Local resident:

While I understand the intention behind the proposal for a 2-hour, no-return-within-1-hour parking bay on Church Street, I am concerned that this change will in fact have a negative impact on residents such as ourselves.

As occupants of numbers …., we do not have access to off-street parking and are therefore entirely reliant on being able to park outside our homes. This is already a significant challenge—not only during events at the Reading Rooms, but also during generally busy periods in the village.

My concern is that introducing time-restricted parking will displace vehicles further along the street, resulting in increased competition for the limited space outside our properties. This will make it even more difficult for us to park near our homes and access them reasonably.

Given this, I would ask whether the council has considered allocating resident-only parking spaces outside numbers …., to ensure that those without alternative parking options are not disproportionately affected by this proposal.

I would appreciate a clear response on how the needs of residents in this position will be addressed.
